Babies and toddlers fall constantly. There is no way around it between them climbing, jumping, running. Adding siblings in the mix, it’s a no win scenario of staying 100% safe all the time. Some kids, like mine, just need bubble wrap around them for a few years. See that smile up there on the picture above, yep… that’s my son missing half of his 2 front teeth. In that instance, it was hard to tell how bad that fall was. How do you tell you the difference between an “all fall down” moment versus an ER moment?! Today, we are talking about teeth, so Dr. Sarah at Homegrown Pediatric Dentistry is here to guide us through accidents involving children’s teeth.
Dr. Sarah’s Emergency Tooth Notes:
Six years-old & under (baby tooth):
Seven Years-Old & older (permanent tooth):
Here are some ways to prevent tooth injuries that more commonly come into the office:
– wear a mouth guard during sports
– use a non-slip bath mat and sit down in the bath
– be careful diving into shallow pools
We are so thankful we had Dr. Sarah when my son’s accident happened, and she was able to tell his permanent teeth are still in great shape. Both of my kids have been seeing Dr. Sarah since 2018 and we are so excited for her opening her very own practice that is true to her big caring heart and badassery in her field.
