What kind of black and white image do you like?

On the left, you can see the pure white background makes the image more poppy and lively. Whereas you can see the grey background on the right provides the image to be more moody and calming.

In these images the subjects are wearing pure black colors. The subtle textures to the clothes provide a little bit of interest. If you like the pure white background but prefer the image to be less contrasted, I would suggest a lighter dark color, like Navy blue or medium dark grey.
